Export Live Photo to Static Images

How to scrub through any Live Photo clip and pinpoint the exact frame to export as a high-quality static PNG, JPG, or WEBP file.

Capture the Best Still

It happens all the time: your camera shot a Live Photo, but the absolute best moment—the most candid smile, or the fastest action—happened right before or after the camera 'snapped' the main cover photo!

By navigating the video backend behind every Live Photo, our extraction suite lets you scrub frame-by-frame and export that split-second magic. Depending on what you intend to use the image for, we provide options to extract the image in 3 different formats:

A Simple 3-Step Process

Step 1: Locate and Upload Upload the source .mov or .mp4 segment of your photo (Max. 50MB per file). Everything proceeds locally on your machine—there is no need to worry about server data leaks when handling personal photos.

Step 2: Track Down the Golden Frame Use our Interactive Timeline feature beneath the dashboard. As you click around and drag the playhead across the track, watch the main frame change. This playhead gives you raw, frame-by-frame precision.

Step 3: Modify & Download Don't just extract it blindly! Based on which tool you selected above, you can customize the final image's specs:

  • Alter its Width/Height Ratio to make it Instagram or Print ready!
  • Add padding or a background color underneath to stop awkward edge clipping.
  • Click 'Export', and the crisp image is yours to keep, watermark free.

Best Practices

If you need the truest pixel-to-pixel output for a design studio or professional print workspace, you must always choose the Live Photo to PNG exporter. PNG enforces lossless quality which prevents color banding in skies and facial grades.

Alternatively, if you're compressing dozens of still frames for a blog post, selecting the Live Photo to WEBP option ensures the final sizes are 20-30% smaller than a JPG with generally comparable quality!
